Suppose a 150 × 60 cm display drops only 2 cm :
150 × 60 × 2 ÷ 1,000 = 18 L
That's 18 liters entering the sump before adding water from the overflow box and plumbing.
If the sump has only 10 L of free capacity, we already know where the remaining water wants to go.
So for every Ruibit sump project I would specify:
normal operating level
shutdown drain-back volume
emergency freeboard
primary/emergency drain arrangement
and a physical pump-off test before handover .
A sump isn't safer because it is bigger.
It is safer because somebody calculated the empty part.

Imagine:

Over a year, the labor pattern is completely different.
And frequency depends on bioload, feeding, mechanical capacity, and actual operation, so those figures are illustrative—not universal maintenance schedules.
For a home hobbyist, that difference may be irrelevant.
For 40 hotel aquariums under a maintenance contract, minutes become payroll.
This is why I would never select aquarium filtration only from L/h .
I Don't Want the “Best Filter”
If Ruibit were quoting a wholesale aquarium program for me, I would rather see three intentionally different Products :
a compact freshwater aquarium designed around easy HOB maintenance ;
a clean mid-size display designed around a serviceable canister ;
and a premium reef or commercial aquarium built from the beginning around a proper sump .
Trying to force one filtration architecture across all three would make manufacturing simpler.
It would not necessarily make the aquariums better.
The final question I would ask isn't:
“Which filter removes the most waste?”
It is:
“Where will the waste be after seven days, and how difficult will it be for someone to remove it?”
